Te Aroha Cruise-In
Te Aroha's inaugural Aroha Cruise-In was so successful that it will now be an annual event. It started on Friday afternoon with a parade of 30 or so classic cars and motorcycles through the town with a police escort. Elvis arrived in style perched on the back of a classic Mercury convertible. Later in the evening, the Te Aroha RSA rocked to a dramatic performance by Elvis who arrived at the stage astride a super bike and backed by the Custodians. A packed audience was treated to a star performance with a finale that will be talked about in Te Aroha for decades to come! To find out what happened, you will have to visit Te Aroha RSA and ask a local! But all this was just the start. Saturday morning saw over 300 vehicles of all ages and shapes overflowing the town centre and around 2,000 people there to join the fun. Elvis was once again the star as the Master of Ceremonies and delighted the large crowd with an impromptu performance backed by local band, The Loan Rangers.
Later that night a drive-in-movie was held at the park, but Elvis had left the building by then, whisked out of town in his convertible Mercury.
